Isidoro Antonio Calvo Vidal (Pontevedra, 1967) holds a degree and a PhD in Law from the University of Santiago de Compostela.

He entered the Spanish notarial profession in 1995. He subsequently passed the competitive examination for serving notaries through which he obtained the notarial office he currently holds in the city of A Coruña.

The author of numerous articles in specialist publications and contributions to collective works, his principal fields of interest are succession law and company law. His monographs include La persona jurídica societaria, originally submitted as his doctoral thesis; El certificado sucesorio europeo; Digitalización de la función notarial e intervención a distancia; and Ley aplicable a los efectos patrimoniales de matrimonios y uniones registradas y a las sucesiones en la UE.

On these and other subjects, he has also taken part in numerous congresses, seminars and conferences and has delivered many lectures in Spain and abroad.

Within the institutional sphere of the notarial profession, his activities are primarily international. He is a General Councillor of the International Union of Notaries and represents the General Council of Spanish Notaries in matters relating to the European Union.

By Order of the Ministry of Justice of 5 December 2016, he was awarded the Distinguished Cross, First Class, of the Order of St Raymond of Peñafort, a Spanish distinction recognising services rendered and contributions to the development and advancement of law and jurisprudence.

He served as General Coordinator of the 4th European Notarial Congress, held in Santiago de Compostela from 5 to 7 October 2017.
